INTRODUCTION BY HIS GRACE THE DUKE OF BEAUFORT

| In 1981 Michael Pinker founded Lady’s Wood Shooting School with one small manually operated trap on the back lawn. But from little acorns great oaks grow, and Lady’s Wood has long been recognised as one of the finest Shooting Schools in the country. This is due to Michael and his wife Karen who between them had a gift for getting things right.
Michael took an active role much in evidence at the Shooting School. He was only too pleased to be able to pass on his vast experience and knowledge of shooting to both the young entry or more mature shot. In this modern world his old fashioned values, patience and courtesy were all part of the natural teaching process. His own experience came from an introduction to shooting at an early age and he represented both England and Great Britain on many occasions. Michael had a wealth of knowledge and understanding of the countryside, as a keen naturalist, conservationist and excellent game shot. Sadly Michael passed away in 2010 and his vast experience will be missed but he and Karen had set the highest standards for Lady’s Wood and Karen maintains those standards whilst continuing to improve and refine them so that Lady’s Wood will retain its position among the elite shooting schools.
